Saving an imovie onto 500 GB desktop hard Drive

message comes up as " can't save, disk full ( it's not ), locked ( how do I unlock it? How did I lock it in the first place? I have photos on it so I have saved stuff to the hard drive before ) or read-only ( what on earth? How do I make it readable? )
