I want to be an environmentally-conscious shopper but I need to watch my spending, too. How can I shop eco-friendly on a budget? What stores, websites, etc. do you recommend?

  1. morrisons, lidls (they are cheap) and if you live in the uk!

But you could grown your own vegetables because then they are fresh

Also you could stick to a certain amount on your shopping budget, plan your meals so you know what you are eating and how much you would have spent on that meal!

  2. Sometimes we just have to do what we can afford to, when you shop, pick the thing that are packaged with less waste, and recycle as much as you can.

And start feeling good about your self and don't let people condemn you because of what you can't do.

  3. I hear your concern as environmentally friendly products do tend to be more expensive however they are well worth the investment in regards to the environment and the health of you and your family members.

My business EnviroMom On-Line  www.enviromomonline.com offers wastefree lunch systems, stainless steel water bottles and lunch containers which I believe actually SAVE you money after the initial investment. The cost of ziploc baggies, containers, waterbottles, juice boxes etc. add up after a while.

Often I will do environmental and healthy living consultations for clients where I send an inventory check list regarding household products and provide them with healthier/environemntally friendly alternatives and the lowest cost possible.

Supercentres such as Loblaws and other major grocers often carry a good product line of eco-freindly products however there are many specialty stores which are often quite comparable.

The cheapest way however is go back to basics and do a lot of it yourself! Instead of buying cleaners, make them with vinegar and water! Use old cloths rather than paper towel.

One book I'd reccomend is 'How to Make Hundreds of Everyday Products You Would Otherwise Buy'.....this is definetely your cheapest option.

  4. I Recommend Total Eco Store http://www.totalecostore.com for the largest selection and cheapest prices for everyday eco-friendly products.  I buy all my green products there, they have some really cool solar powered stuff too.

  5. Well, first of all, it doesn't take much money to be eco-friendly.  If people are trying to tell you that eco-friendly products cost more money, they're lying to you.

Second, stop buying c**p that you really don't need.

Third, do a websearch for eco-friendly products in your area.  I don't think there is a certain store that would sell just eco-friendly products.  Maybe there should be.
