Thailand’s talented and in-form players Savitree Amitrapai and Sapsiree Taerattanachai proved their mettle on court and claimed Women’s Doubles title at the Syed Modi International India GPG 2012 on Sunday, December 23, in India.
In the title match, Savitree and Sapsiree were on a different level as they played flawless badminton and remained successful in beating Indonesia’s Komala Dewi and Jenna Gozali while taking just 33 minutes.
The second seeded Savitree and Sapsiree, who remained unbeaten throughout the tournament, continued their winning run on court and they remained successful in winding up the contest in straight games with a punishing margin on the board.
On the contrary, the third seeded Komala and Jenna tried their best to play positive badminton but they failed to live up to the expectations and eventually lost the title battle without even putting up strong resistance.
In the first game, the higher ranked Savitree and Sapsiree showed an amazing aggression on court from the opening points and they easily created a huge pressure on their lower ranked Indonesian challengers.
Mustering it further, Savitree and Sapsiree were quite comfortable in taking the bird timely and they did not face any problem in executing their shots in right areas.
Until the mid-game break, the aggressive Thai ladies remained successful in creating an amazing lead on score board until the one-minute break.
After the interval, the battle progressed in the similar fashion as Savitree and Sapsiree did not lose their focus and control over the pace of rallies.
Savitree and Sapsiree were very calm and composed in their positive play and they easily wrapped up the first set with a crushing 21-12 score on the board.
In the following set, the in-form Savitree and Sapsiree did not lose their control at any stage and maintained their upper hand at the early stage.
Thai ladies impressed the crowd with their incredible craft that helped them to stay in commanding position against their Indonesian opponents who failed to produce good form.
Komala and Jenna could not put up strong show in the second game of this contest as their Thai rivals played better game and won it with a stunning 21-6 score on the board.
Thai shuttlers emerged as victorious in this final encounter at Syed Modi International with a completely commanding margin of 21-12 and 21-6.
