What is with the Big Glass Box full of broken glass?

Is this a trap, if so who is in it and why was it never shown?

Will it be shown in future Saw Films?

According to the DVD commentary the victim would awake in what was described as a 'Glass Coffin', a coffin filled with broken pieces of glass. Somewhere amongst the glass was a key which the victim had to find before he bled to death which would presumably unlock the coffin.

The scene is said to be very graphic and was removed for unknown reasons. There have been rumours that it will appear in the next film, Saw V.

It might just be for  effect , to scare people , like the bloody barb wire that is used in their logo.
