in the last race due to a loose shoe...did anyone else see that and what do you think? I did see a photo and the shoe looked like it was hanging on by two nails..supposedly another horse clipped his right rear heel out of the gate....

  1. My first thought was to question why it was never revealed until a freelance photographer noticed it in a photo?  With all the curiosity, what would be a reason to hide that fact?  It would have been immediately obvious and talked to death, I would think.

  2. I think it's time to get over Big Brown's loss. Whatever the excuse for his loss, he still lost. Also, he was pulled up by Kent Desormeaux. I don't know about the shoe excuse, but it's not a very big deal about his loss. Anybody related to him has already made plenty of money, and they will make plenty more with his stud fees.

The shoe excuse does seem legitimate. He has terrible hooves. For that reason, I (personally) would never want to breed to him, but there are plenty of people that will because of his winnings. There is a saying that I love that fits this perfectly. "No hooves; no horse."

  3. The horse had a temper tantrum and left his race in the starting gate- something that happens all the time in racing. I don't think it was a shoe problem- I just think the horse was being rank and hard to live with that day, and it cost him the race. Get over it- life goes on.

  4. I think it could have been a factor but not the whole loss. I just think it wasn't his day.

  5. Well, then they should just be glad it was just a loss, could have been worse seeing as he was clipped, could have went down or ???

  6. he was holding him back 2 much and in the final sretch, he didnt have enough energy 2 win. but that horseshoe was mostlikely th cause

  7. I'm glad that the rider pulled him over. If a horse doesn't feel right, you don't race it. There's a general rule for you.

I for one just wish that drunken Texas business men would get something else to blow money on instead of horses who are made to race and risk that fact that they could break their legs. One actually broke BOTH of its legs. That is ridiculous.
