Sawpit Sensation to sweep the Shelbourne Open 525 at Shelbourne Park
The Shelbourne Open 525 will be hosted by Shelbourne Park over 525 yards on Thursday, 24th May. The €500 race will be contested by Swords Jacko, Barbican Bullet, Glown Bound, Cambushmore, Paulines Pride and Sawpit Sensation.
The most promising entry for the race is Sawpit Sensation, Head Bound’s two-year-old black son out of b***h, No Joke Sherry. His seasonal debut was in the Stadium Bookmakers Puppy 480 metres Trophy on 9th January at Nottingham.
He was the 4/7 favourite winner who timed the track distance in 29.46 seconds and led the field by 6 ¼ lengths. Finishing the closest to the winner was Quivers Shimmer. He timed the distance in 29.96 seconds.
Ever since he scored second in the Lovethedogs.Co.UK Standard on 2nd March at Perry Barr over 480 metres, Sawpit Sensation did not score less than this in the next nine races.
He timed the track distance in 28.38 seconds.
He then stationed second in the Ladbrokes Mobile 509er on 8th March at Swindon over 509 metres. The race was won by Mark My Words who completed the trip in 29.95 seconds and was soon joined in by Sawpit Sensation who took 30.09 seconds to settle the race.
14th March had him winning the second heat of the Swindon Monkey 509er at Swindon by reaching the other end of the wire in 30.07 seconds and led by four lengths.
Taking up the second slot was Jaytee Tiger who raced across the wire in 30.39 seconds.
Coming at terms with the third position was World Charm.
After winning on 26th March, Sawpit Sensation struck a hat trick. The first leg of the hat trick came in the form of the William Hill Greyhound Derby Trial Stakes on 11th April at Swindon over 480 metres.
The evening’s favourite took 28.78 seconds to reach the other end of the wire and led by just half a length.
Then Sawpit Sensation was the 2/1 favourite winner of the Betfred Goals Galore Gents Standard on 30th April at Nottingham over 500 metres. He completed the trip in 30.46 seconds and led the field by 1 ¾ lengths.
He finally accomplished the hat trick by winning the Swindon Monkey 509er – Heat 1 on 9th May at Swindon. The winner got done with racing in 30.14 seconds.
His very last try was a second score and his win tonight is inevitable.
