Saxon Math - Algebra One Home school Program?

Does anyone know how this Algebra stacks up against the Algebra taught in Public School? I have been told it is much more thorough and that geometry is integrated into the Algebra? I am trying to figure out what credits my daughter has earned.

  1. I DID THE EXACT SAME BOOK LAST YEAR!

It really is more in depth then some other books that I have seen. I take a test at the end of each year that the public schoolers take and I have found the test to be wayyyy easier. Saxon reveiws the same thing alot to make sure you get it. But it does get harder as the book progresses, so be sure she can keep up! ;)

  2. Yes, the Saxon Algebra has more information and goes more in depth into the topics.  A lot of the Algebra texts used in public schools these days are dumbed down and comic-book like.

Have you tried the Saxon placement tests?  They are free to download and print.  Link is below.  This might give you an idea of what level your daughter has reached.

  3. I took Algebras 1 and 2 with Saxon in HS, there is alot of geometry as well as trig. I got an A in college algebra. at my state college. I hated Saxon while I was in it, but its good stuff.
