  3. You can find some good information on the site listed below.  There are links to books and articles that will help you learn more about horses and riding.

  4. If you are really serious about getting into horses.  You would be better off taking riding lessons and getting hands on experience from someone that has the experience than reading about it on the internet.

  5. The first thing you want to do is find a stable with a good reputation to take lessons at. Take a few lessons, and if you really enjoy it and would like to learn more here are some websites you can visit:

    http://www.angelfire.com/tx2/kidshorses/...

    http://www.ultimatehorsesite.com/

or you can purchase a horse back, there are many available. I would recommend a book bye Cherry Hill.

If you are really ready to dedicate yourself to horses you should purches paddock boots, breeches, and a Helmet.

    Enjoy Horses!

  6. Also you need to decide on a discipline: Western or English, or perhaps both.

  7. I would go to the bookstore and buy a book about horse care and the breeds. That is where I started when I first got into horses. I much prefer reading a book than staring at a computer screen personally!

You can see if Western or English is more appealing to you. Both are a fun way to ride, and are unique and require similar skills.

If you are still interested in riding, you could go to a local stable and take some lessons. They will have horses appropriate for beginners, and professional instructors. Pricing can vary, and some places you can work for lessons by doing barn work. Try to find a stable that grooming and tacking and learning about care are part of the lesson program. This will give you a good, full experience.

Good luck! Horseback riding is the best!
