Say im in the sun then i get a tan after that i got a tattoo?

will it affect the tattoo? someone told me never tan then get a tattoo

I'm not talking about tanning salons just being in the sun. it sounds silly to me.

  1. If you have a tan BEFORE you get a tattoo you should be fine. You're not supposed to tan AFTER you get a tattoo. Keep this in mind if you have a lot of colorful ink. The color will fade drastically if you don't put sunscreen on it. Regardless of age.


  2. I am a lic.'d Aesthetic Instructor & tattoo artist. the reason that you should not expose your tattoo 2 long exposure 2 the sun when it is healing is that it can cause sun damage & cause your tattoo color 2 be a different shade.  it also is uncomfortable like a sun burn. hope that helps.

  3. if you are in the sun first then get a tattoo, it shouldn't affect it at all.  If you get a tattoo then go out in the sun afterwards, it can cause it to fade some.  I have 2 tattoos myself, one of which has lighter colors (yellow), and it has faded some since I have gotten it.
