Say you are playing pool you have one more ball left and the cue ball , you call the shoot for your last ball?

you hit your last ball in and hit the cue ball in following your shoot did you win or lose

You should always call the 8 ball or better yet put a marker by the pocket you are shooting for so there is no confusion as to where you are shooting.  If you don't do either of those things you technically will lose the game even if you make the 8 ball.

If you are playing 8 ball and scratch after pocketing it you lose.  If you are playing 9 ball, you spot the 9 and your opponent has ball in hand (most players would just give the game to the opponent and not make him shoot it).
