Sayaka Sato and Yip Pui Yin through to semi-final of India Open Super Series 2011
Japan’s Sayaka Sato and Hong Kong’s Yip Pui Yin have entered the women’s singles semi-final of the India Open Super Series 2011.
In the quarter-final, Sayaka defeated Jiayuan Chen of Singapore in three sets, whereas the fourth seed Pui Yin crushed Inthanon Ratchanok of Thailand in straight games.
In Saturday’s semi-finals, Sayaka will take on the third seed Bae Youn-joo of Korea who defeated Yao Jie of Netherlands, whereas Pui Yin will be up against Porntip Buranaprasertsuk of Thailand, who proved her superiority against Juan Gu of Singapore.
Sayaka started the game in a slow way that spared an opportunity for Jiayuan to build a good lead of 11-7 in the first half of the set. After the break, the Japanese played well by increasing the speed of the game and decreased the score by reaching 16-18.
However, the Singaporean dominated the game in the end and won the set with a decent margin of 21-18 in 19 minutes.
In the second game, Sayaka worked well in the start and established a big lead of 11-6 in the opening half. After the break, the Japanese remained on the right track and won the set with a good difference of 21-15 in just 15 minutes.
In the third set, Jiayuan tried to stop the aggressive run of the Japanese but failed to break the flow of Sayaka, who spent only 17 minutes to win the set with a 21-15 margin. The ending score of the 51-minute battle was 18-21, 21-15 and 21-15.
In another match of women’s singles, Pui Yin showed no respect to Ratchanok and finished the match in two sets. The Hong Kong shuttler remained ahead of her opponent in the entire first set and won it with a decent margin of 21-17 in just 18 minutes.
In the second game, Pui Yin played the same flawless game in the opening half and established a good lead of 11-6. She continued her impressive performance and finished the second set in just 16 minutes with a 21-15 margin. The finishing score of the 34-minute
battle was 21-17 and 21-15.
