Sayaka Takahashi advances into Women’s Singles second round at Canada Open Grand Prix
Japan’s aggressive shuttler Sayaka Takahashi showed her brilliance as she easily advanced into Women’s Singles second round after crushing the local shuttler Joanna Che in first round battle at the Yonex Canada Open 2012 on Wednesday, July 11, in Canada.
The in-form Japanese lady was at her best while playing in her opening contest in the tournament and easily proved her supremacy on court by taming her Canadian opponent without losing any set.
Sayaka was in full swing as she did not show any sign of slowing down her speed and easily overpowered her opponent in straight games with a huge margin by working for just 17 minutes on court.
In the meanwhile, the confused Joanna could not live up to expectations as she was no match to her Japanese rival and eventually crashed out easily in the opening round of the event.
The local lady proved a tough nut to crack for Sayaka as the Canadian played impressive badminton in opening rallies and did not let her Japanese challenger to set up lead.
However, Sayaka changed her tactics at 6-6 and started to take the bird early. She injected power in her shots and executed impressive smashes which helped her to put pressure on her rival and she also got a strong position by reaching at 11-6 until the
break.
After the interval, the Japanese shuttler continued playing at her best speed without facing a tough resistance from her rival and she eventually wrapped up opening game easily with a superb 21-13 score on the board.
In the second game, it was a smooth sailing for the Japanese who played at the same speed and managed to set up a smashing lead of 11-3 on the score board until the end of opening half.
After the mid-game interval, the Canadian lady tried to play fast and positive badminton but she failed to stop the attacking play of her rival.
On the other hand, Sayaka remained position on court and she did not face any trouble in taking the second game with an incredible margin of 21-4.
Sayaka emerged as the winner in this Women’s Singles first round encounter in a lopsided fashion by a stunning 21-13 and 21-4 score on the board.
