Sayaka Takahashi topples Hsiao Ma Pai in Women’s Singles semi-final at Australian Badminton Open
Japan’s aggressive player Sayaka Takahashi stayed confident and surged into Women’s Singles final after taming Chinese Taipei’s Hsiao Ma Pai in semi-final showdown of Australian Badminton Open 2013 in Sydney, on Saturday, April 6.
The seventh seeded Takahashi, who remained aggressive and positive throughout the tournament, continued her winning run in the arena and she managed to outplay the higher ranked Hsiao Ma while taking 44 minutes on court.
Takahashi did not show any respect to her Taipei challenger in this semi-final contest. She remained positive in all of her shots and remained successful in winning this match in a convincing fashion with a 21-16 and 21-15 score on the board.
The third seeded Hsiao Ma, who played superb badminton in all of her matches in this championship, could not put up strong show against the in-form Takahashi and ultimately crashed out without making her presence strongly felt.
Takahashi played with excellent control in her shots and managed to take over the pace of rallies from opening rallies of the first game.
The impressive variations in Takahashi’s shots assisted her to maintain her domination against her challenger in the arena.
It was Takahashi who did not show any mercy to her aggressive challenger in the first half and took a spectacular lead on score board.
After the one-minute interval, the aggressive Takahashi stayed focused on court and remained successful in keeping a comfortable difference.
It was a smooth ride for the aggressive Takahashi who did not face any reasonable fight from her rival and won the opening game with a comfortable 21-16 margin on the board.
However, in the second game, both shuttlers played with staggering precision and they pushed each other in all areas. The score progressed closely and no one could grab a clear lead at the initial stage.
Taipei shuttler raised her level of play this time and she remained successful in sticky around her in-form challenger until the end of the opening half.
After the break, Takahashi changed her tactics and controlled the pace of rallies by increasing her speed at net. She remained positive all the way and won the second set with a superb 21-15 total on score board.
