Sayali Gokhale and Trupti Murgunde qualify for the main round of the India Open Super Series 2011
India’s Sayali Gokhale and Trupti Murgunde have booked their place in the Women’s singles main round after defeating their teammates in the qualifying round of the India Open Super Series 2011, on Tuesday, April 26.
Sayali consumed 24 minutes to beat Mudra Dahinje in straight sets, whereas Trupti thrashed Anita Ohlan in a 30-minute straight-set match.
Sayali started the first set in a superb fashion as she quickly established a 5-point difference at 8-3. Mudra failed to handle the perfectly executed strokes of the opponent and made a few errors, trailing 5-11.
After the one-minute rest, Sayali maintained her lead without sparing any chance for the opponent to bridge the gap. Mudra was helpless against the perfect play of her opponent and lost the first game with a big margin of 21-12, in just 13 minutes.
Sayali remained on track in the second set by employing the same tactics. Her sharp reflexes at the net earned her many points. At interval, Sayali was leading the game with a reasonable margin of 11-6. After the break, she continued her impressive game
and won the second set 21-10, in just 11 minutes. The ending score of this one-sided battle was, 21-12 and 21-10.
Trupti also delivered a tremendous performance in another qualifying-round match of Women’s singles. The first set remained close in the first half, where Trupti was just ahead of her opponent at 11-9. After the interval, Anita tried to level the score but
failed as her opponent started to gear up her speed. Trupti won the first set with a 21-15 margin.
After winning the first set, Trupti continued her winning run in the second game by playing positively and built a good lead of 11-5. Anita tried to accelerate her speed to tackle the powerful strokes of the opponent but lost her control over the rallies.
Trupti won the game in just 14 minutes with a 21-14 score on the board. The final score of this straight-set fight was, 21-15 and 21-14.
