Well ive restored my whole laptop, and it was fine for a month or so and then an error message popped up saying it wasnt a genuine copy :S I dont get it really and i dont know what to do with it. I registered the product key again but i know you can only do that on one computer, so is it because its been registered more then once? I want it to be a genuine copy because ive payed for this laptop from a proper pc shop. What can do i do?

  1. you have to get a blank 'bootable' disk. meaning all you need is your product key. if you use the xp cd you can only use the number that comes with the disk and if its been used more than once (i think) it doesnt work. you gotta find someone that can hook yu up with a 'blank bootable disk for windows'. make sure yu know if its windows pro or home edition.

  2. Assuming that you also paid for the copy of Windows you installed (if it came with the laptop you paid for it), call Microsoft tech support.  It happens, and they fix it (by deleting it from the database, so you can register it).
