  2. 100 rupees is enough to open an account in state bank of india.

  3. In SBI your debit *** ATM card is Free for your life time. All you need to do to open a Savings bank A/c is to go to the nearest branch of the bank in your locale with the set of the document proofs.

    1. Date of birth proof - Photocopy of  Your 10th or HSC mark sheet would do.

    2. Address Proof - Photocopy of  Your Ration card, Voters ID, Driving License would do.

    3. Additional Proof - Photocopy of these  If you have any like Passport, PAN card.

    4. 2 Passport size photographs - recently taken

You have to fill up the application form to open a savings account.

    5. If you already have account in any other bank, photocopy of the bank statement may come in help to you also.

    The minimum balance requirements are

If you are living in Metro /Urban -Rs.1000, if you want the cheque or it is Rs.500.

If you are living in Semi-Urban Rs. 200 ; If you are in Rural Rs.500 for cheque operated a/c, and Rs.200 for ordinary a/c.

Link from where you can download the forms :

But it is good to go to the branch so you don't have to struggle, anyways you would need to submit the form along with the documentary proof.
