Obviously this question is not for me.

But I'm curious what the legal age to move out in SC is.

Since you can quit school with out parental consent at 17.

Please provide some sort of legal statue not just "un huh yes"

  1. 18; first age where you are of majority and can sign a lease.

  2. The age of majority is 18 in S.C. While certain minors, particularly those between 16 and 18 have some rights and can do some things without parental consent, as long as they are under 18, the parents are still their guardians. There is no possibility of emancipation in SC. It's important to note that with parental consent, any age is okay.

  3. There does not appear to be any emancipation laws in SC, the age of majority IS 18. While a child might be able to quit school before 18, they still cannot move out w/o parental consent until they are 18. That being said, however, good luck trying to enforce this. Many cops will be reluctant to chase after a 17 yr old and make them come home. You might have to be very very persistant. I know because I have been there with my own kid.

  4. Legally, she can drop out of school at 17 in SC, but to move out she needs the consent of her parents. She is not an adult until age 18 and if you are her friend, you will advise her to get back in school and continue to live with her parents.

  5. The age of majority in SC is 18. The law is very strange in that it does allow a child to drop out of school at 17. However, he or she is still considered a minor until 18 for all other purposes.

  6. I do believe the legal age is 18. I know here in Georgia you can leave when your 17 but your parents have to let you back in if you come home.

  7. I see this question a dozen times a day in this state or that, never with any justification at all for the belief that there is such an age.

I myself moved out when I was 16. I went away to college. There were some kids there in the dorms younger then me, from all over the US and maybe the world.

It is not illegal per se to move out at any age. Kids go live with someone else all the time, or simply move on with their lives at the appropriate time.

If you mean one of your 5 kids is threatening to move out and you don't want him or her to, and until what age can you grab them back or exert parental privilege to prevent them leaving tghe house, that is a completely different matter.
