Question:

Scab on my bunny?

I was petting my bunny today and felt something hard between his shoulder blades. I didn't see anything but after a few minutes, felt it again. After parting his fur, I found a scab about the size of a quarter. It's sunken in in the center, the edge is slightly raised on one side and it coming up on the other, almost bowl shaped. It's grayish/yellowish/brownish in color. He doesn't seem to notice it's there at all and has had no other changes.

He was at the vet about two weeks ago for enteritis. He came home on antibiotics but also had an antibiotic injection in the same area as the scab. He finished his oral antibiotics with no problems and seemed to be as good as new until this.

Could the injection have caused a reaction resulting in a scab that big? What else could it be?

  1. Possibly, yes.

Call your vet for sure! Its sound as if it is almost infected!

You may need to go back and see the vet to get medication for the scab, or for if it is an infection.

Make sure you refresh the litter to make sure it is clean.

    What litter do you use???

It could be because the area is unclean, or he is lacking a high quality rabbit bedding.

    Call the vet for sure!!!

    Good Luck!!! God Bless!

  2. it could be crusted fur or he could have a certain rabbit cancer
