Scabs inside the bellybutton?

My fiance has kinda grey scabs on the inside of his bellybutton. He says they're painful if touched.

He says he cleans it out when in the shower, so its not lint or dirt. But no matter what we try (peroxide, soap, etc) the scabs remain

anybody ever experience this before? or know what it is?

don't scrub ur belly button. tell ur fiance that just to leave it for a week and see what happens. maybe he/she rubs it too much and the skin gets weak. go to ur doctor if it continues

The only thing I can think of is that he is scrubbing out his belly button lint so hard that scabs form in place of the rubbing, and that's what you're seeing. I have similar problems when I see a lot of lint buildup and I absentmindedly just start scraping it out with my fingernail. The area turns red and raw after I do that, and after a day or so, some scabs start to form.

Just have him gently wash out belly button lint with a washcloth and some soap instead of scrubbing it out, and hopefully he will have a clean, scab-free belly button.
