Question:

Scalp scratching addiction?

When I was younger and my scalp would get sunburned and peel off, I thought it was always fun to scratch all over my head looking for dead skin. But now, even though my scalp isn't sunburned, I don't have have dandruff, and my scalp doesn't feel itchy (except after I've scratched it once and then go back for more), I feel the need to rub/scratch my scalp searching for little balls of skin. Fortunately, I don't claw or scratch intensely at all so I'm not too worried about sores or anything.

So here's my questions:

Why do I do this?

Why do I get excited by this (like when I find I big ball of skin)?

Any real way to stop this (besides like keeping your hands busy which does not work for me)?

P.S.

Please no answers like "Ew, gross" because there are people that get exciting by popping zits! (guilty)

Give references when you can!

(seriously, thank you for even reading this!)

    1) "When I was younger" - Habit

    2) "I thought it was always fun to scratch all over my head looking for dead skin."

    3) Chop off your hands. This not only benefits you by not allowing you to pick your scalp but prevents you from typing which benefits the world.
