Hi all...

I just sold a 350 gift card on ebay. I recieved payment through paypal fast and the seller said he wanted to verify the amount on the card, so I told him the info and shipped the card (through mail). Turns out he used someone elses paypal account??? and I just looked up the card online (wrote down the info) and it is all spent!!. Im 18 and this is a huge finacial blow! wtf do I do! Also ive looked at the guys feedback and it appears hes had a history of scam, something I should have paid attention to.

Please help! Please no answers like "thats why you shouldnt sell gift cards on ebay" as it doesnt help!

  1. Paypal does have seller protection.  I would call them and see if you qualify for it.

  2. so you got a chargeback? You can provide a tracking info and since it's over 250 dollars, you must provide insurance info as well to paypal's dispute and resolution center. you will get your money back from paypal. because similar situation happens to me and i was able to get my money back after 1 to 2 weeks.

btw, i would accept money order instead for these type of items.

under seller protection, for all item over $250, you need to purchase insurance for your item. if you mailed via USPS, you should have bought USPS insurance. If you met all paypal's seller protection requirements, you will be able to get your money back.

these are the requirements that i know:

    1. ship to a confirmed address.

    2. provide tracking info.

    3. provide insurance info for item over $250.

  3. initiate a dispute through paypal. its easy. hopefully you'll get your money back,a lso leave horrible feedback under this guys nae and look out next time

  4. Log into your Ebay account and go to the "live" chat, and speak with a representative about this matter.
