hi

is there any software in the market that would work with your printer that once you scan, the content would be converted straight away to an editable microsoft word document?

I would like to convert all my books that are turning old and yellow to word document so that i can use the mobipocket creator to further convert them to a format compatible with my palm.

  1. Hi Keith

There is this free OCR software called Free OCR. I downloaded it and tried it. Amazing !!!!!!

I asked it to convert some old jpeg text file to MS-Word. Guess wwhat ? It took about 5 seconds to convert the document and opening word and present it to me for editing.

  2. no, scanner gives a picture, but not an already recognized text

abbyy FineReader software scans a picture to recognize words on it, and only then you can copypaste them to winword

  3. Try some of the OCR or Optical Character Recognition software that is currently available.  If you bought a scanner or an 'all in one' it should have come with OCR software albeit a cut down version.  None of them are 100% perfect and may require some editing in Word after you open the file in it.  But it sure cuts down on the amount of time you would spend typing every word in.  Also in Word look about converting the files to pdf format.
