Scan tool for reading codes on 98 ford crown vic lx

have a 98 ford crown vic lx, trying to figure out what type of scan tool(model) i should be using. i was given an actron, but i found outit was for older models. still not sure where my actual connection port is, some say under seat, some say under dash next to knee, in which i see..anyone got specifics for this model, so i can get right to the point of reading my codes. thanks

  1. Everything sold in the US from 1996 onwards has an OBDC-II connector on board by law.  It's located within 14 inches of the steering column, usually under the dash to the right of the steering column.  It's rectangular in shape and is usually  covered by a door or other protective panel.  Any OBCD-II scan tool can pull the basic codes and clear the codes.  Some models have advanced features but if all you want to do is pull the codes and be able to clear them, buy on price.  Just look for OBDC-II compliance on the package.
