Scanner won't pick up local police?

It'll pick up my local fire/ems and state police but not my local police...maybe i don't have the right frequency or something???

Your local Radio Shack can help you with frequencies and whether your local PD has gone digital or not.

You might have entered the frequency wrong.  The local police might also use digital modulation.  It'd sound like a bunch of buzzes and squawks it it's digital.

They might have went to the new digital system that Homeland Security is subsidizing nationwide. My Bearcat 895XLT was obsoleted by this. A new digital scanner costs around 500 bucks.
