Scans results clear Houston Texans LB Brian Cushing of serious injury blow -NFL News
The Houston Texans have confirmed there is nothing serious about the injury scare of linebacker, Brian Cushing, a day after the player was confirmed to have had some scans done on his knee.
Cushing was let off the field following soreness in his knee, which has been problematic for him since the past two years.
According to coach, Gary Kubiak, the scan results cleared him of any serious injury.
The coach, in brief comments on Tuesday, June 05, confirmed the player would return to the squad to take part in the rest of the organised team activities (OTAs).
Kubiak said of the player:
"He's fine. Everything is fine. We will err on the side of caution here. I don't even know if I'll practice him the rest of the week. He did work out, he just didn't go with the team."
In spite of Cushing’s remarkably good performance in the National Football League (NFL), he has been through too many injury problems in his short career.
He had a surgery on his knee in 2010. However, it did not affect his game since the procedure was done during the offseason and the player was able to recover by the start of the training camp.
Cushing had another knee injury after the game against Atlanta Falcons in December last year, but remained lucky to have escaped the possibility of suffering any major blow.
Following his last week’s injury, he was feared to be on the risk of going under the knife again. However, that stage did not arise.
In addition to the injury scares, he had been suspended for four games in the 2010 season for violating the league’s anti-doping rules. He allegedly took performance enhancing drugs.
Apart of from these issues, he has remained crucial to the team’s form and his performance also helped him earn the Rookie of the Year award.
Texans are coming out in the 2012 NFL season as one of the Super Bowl contenders and their defence must give its best to confirm the team’s chances of progressing somewhere closer to the title-claiming game, if not making it.
