Scans to determine Nathan Hauritz and Shaun Tait’s fate
Australia has been hit again by injury scares before the ICC World Cup 2011 and this time, spinner Nathan Hauritz and pacer Shaun Tait have joined the list.
The two players broke down in the second One Day International against England at Hobart on Friday and both of them will undergo scans to determine the extent of their physical injuries on Saturday.
The spinner Hauritz dislocated his shoulder while trying to stop a ball in the outfield, whereas Tait strained a muscle in his upper thigh while bowling.
The duo would not be featuring in the third ODI on Sunday at Sydney.
The stand-in captain Michael Clarke believes that Tait would be able to make his comeback in the seven-match ODI series. “Shaun (Tait), I think it's his upper thigh or glute. He'll have a scan tomorrow as well but we're hoping that's not too bad. We're confident
he'll be okay, (although) he mightn't be okay for Sunday.”
However, while talking about the condition of Hauritz, the skipper did not see his role in the remaining matches of the series. Clarke said, “More than likely, he's going to struggle to take any more part in this series.”
Clarke expressed his regret over Hauritz’s injury but believed that the young spinner would be fit for the World Cup where he will play a huge part. “He has been playing really well and for this to happen now, I feel for him no doubt. But hopefully he'll
be right for the World Cup and he'll definitely play a big part in that,” http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Clarke-c51120 reiterated.
Tait and Hauritz have added to the list of injured players along Michael Hussey and Ricky Ponting that Australia would be carrying with them to the World Cup set to begin from 19
February, 2011. The Aussies will be playing their first match on 21
February against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Zimbabwe-c3045.
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Australia-c746 would be hoping dearly for a quick recovery of the injured players, otherwise the team would face a big dilemma once they land in the subcontinent.
Both Ponting and Hussey have undergone serious surgeries and are now busy nursing their injuries. The skipper is nursing a broken finger while Hussey is taking care of his Hamstring, an injury that he picked in the first ODI at the Melbourne Cricket Ground.
