Question:

Scared about sleeping with my period and swimming?

Hi.

Today is the 4th time that I have had my period. This time the flow is stronger and it's the first time that it has came out onto the pad, not just when I wipe. Well I only have Regular pads. Will it seep though the sticky bottom?

For my second question, I have to go to a swim party Thursday and I am planning on using a tampon. But will it leak while swimming? Will it be OK to use one in and out of the pool for 4 hours? My mom said she will help me with it if I need it but I don't want to do it there alone.

Thanks.

  1. as far as overnight goes, you could start using both pads and tampons so that if the tampon leaks you have backup. but as far as a pool party, you should be fine for 4 hours if it's not too heavy, otherwise change at least once.

  2. I'm prety sure that it won't leak through the pad, but i'm not possitive. it never has for mee. good luck and have fun at the partty. just call your mom when your at the party to walk you through it.

  3. It wont seep through the bottom, but if your panties slip, then it often goes through the back of your panties, letting the blood drip through. Maybe use a towl on your sheet to stop your sheets from getting wreked. Or put a pad up by the back of your panties as well, thats wehere it usually happens.

For the pool, a tampon will work, call your mom, or put it in before you go. Also, water usually stops your flow for a little while (maybe you noticed in the shower?). Otherwise you should be okay,

    Have fun! And good luck!

  4. ok its ok to bleed onto the pad.. thats normal it wont leak unless your bleeding like you were stabbed just make sure its the right size and place it where you sleep most.. (like if you sleep on you stomach put the pad more up front on your underware. )while swimming for me if i use a tampone i normally have to get ride of it asap when i get out because the water can get in there and blow the tampon up.. so think of bringing extras.. other than that you should be ok in the pool if its uncomfortable while in the pool try taking it out and not wearing anything just make sure when you get out to put one back in..

  5. if that's as heavy as the flow gets you are very lucky! it won't come out through the bottom but if it gets a lot heavier it can soak the whole pad and get on your bedsheets or clothes. it sounds like you are okay for now though. tampons are awesome, no they wont leak, and you can leave it in for 4 hours the first few days of your period and then up to 6 hours toward the end. its pretty easy after the first time you try it. you'll be fine =)

  6. 1] if you don't change your pad that often, then yes it may soak through the sticky part of the pad. it happens. i assume its very embarressing when you  "leak" beause everyone will see it through your pants.

2] you might want to change your tampon when have been swimming a while. it probably wont leak, but just to make sure.

    have fun, goodluck.

  7. dont worry, it wont go through the pad but if you sleep with it on

it might go to the back and leak

and no your tampon will not leak in the pool, and it should be fine to use one in and out of the pool for 4 hours since they are designed to be able to stay in for like 7 hours or something

    :]

  8. It won't leak through the pad, don't worry. You can get overnight pads which are longer, so you don't get leakage at the front or back, which will make you feel more comfortable. For your swim party, a tampon will be fine. I used to be a competitive swimmer and competed many times during my period using tampons and never once had any problems. You should be fine using one in and out of the pool for 4 hours, but it's best not to leave the same tampon in for more than 4 hours.

  9. well tampons last like 7 or more hours so yes you will be good. and you will be VERY good in water because while swimming you CANT bleed, you just wont ever get your period or leak while in a pool. so you will be good if ur in there most of the time, out side of it yes you will, but as long as you use a tampon you should be good to go, if it feels as if its falling out you dident put it in proper or else its bloody and needs to be cahnged.

    GOODLUCK & HAVE FUN

  10. For sleep if you are worried about it going through, I would get night pads, if you are unable to you could just double up a regular one, it does help to stop anything leaking through.

As for swimming, you should be fine to use a tampon in and out of the pool for 4 hours. Just remember never leave it in more then four hours as it can cause toxic shock. It should not leak, you can buy tampons for different flows, so simply get one for a heavier flow.

    Good luck and have fun!

  11. Modern day pads are pretty good at preventing leaks.  I have never had mine leak through the plastic part.  The main risk of leaks is either on the sides or the back or front while you're sleeping.  In order to prevent leaks, buy pads with wings, which will prevent it from leaking out the sides, and buy overnight pads with wings for sleeping, which are longer so you won't leak in front or back.  I always have a variety of pads at home -- pantiliners for light days, regular with wings, heavy with wings, and overnight with wings.  That way you are prepared for your period, however heavy or light the flow is.  I use Always Ultra Thin pads, but you can use whatever kind you find comfortable.

As for swimming, you will be fine if you use one tampon for 4 hours.  Tampons can be worn for up to 8 hours, and are very effective at preventing leaks.  You might want to practice putting a tampon in before you go to the party, because at least at first it's a little weird.  You can put a little bit of Vaseline on the tip of the tampon to help it slide in if you're having trouble.  I find that the ones with plastic applicators are easier to insert than the ones with just cardboard applicators.

Have fun, and don't worry!  The companies that make these products have hundreds of millions of consumers, so they have put enough research into their products to come up with things that are fairly comfortable, effective and easy to use.

  12. Use a tampon that matches the amount of your blood flow.

Read the side or back of the box to find out.

  13. If your scared of leaking tonight put a towel on your bed, wear old pajamas, and put extra padding in the pad like tissues. In the future get overnight pads. Now, for the swimming. You won't leak when your in the water....just make sure your tampon is secure. When you get out of the pool I would suggest putting in a new tampon.

  14. If you are really worried about the pad at night I would just get a thicker pad...but I wouldn't worry because at least for me at night, the flow is less and not as heavy. You should be fine with one tampon for 4 hours in and out of the pool. Just put it in right before and it shouldn't leak. They last about 7-8 hours but if you need to change it, change it ( You shouldn't have it in longer than that). I hope that I helped!! :D Have fun at the Party!!!

  15. first of all relax this is natural and something thats not going away soon. that being said try for the always slender(pink)or the regular(yellow) ultra thin with wings. these are both very slim and comfortable to wear.  Try the slimmest tampon you can find i think its by tampax its the lightest flow this one is easy to use and very comfortable. the water usuallyt stops your flow temprarily so try not to worry too much about that.  i hope everthing goes well for you
