  1. Your fears sound very legitimate. It's hard to concentrate on school when you are concerned about your safety.

    Try http://www.agora.org/dg/dg_agora.html?se...

It's a free public online school in your state.

    Best of Luck to You!

  2. First of all, you would probably be going to a public school, right? If you are, I'd say the best option is homeschooling. Some pretty nasty stuff happens in public schools. If you have the chance to go to a private school, i'd say go for it. Not-so-good stuff happens in private schools, but it's better than a public school, and the experience of making friends, learning to get along with people, ect. is worth it. Still, if you have the option of homeschooling and you honestly think you could stay on top of your work, then that might be best.

  3. I went to school for K-5 then homeschooled from then on. I was able to start college early and wound up dorming around 16. Now the transition into that social arena without having had high school was scary and difficult to get used to although it may have just been the age difference. Either way there's several downsides to homeschooling:

    1) It's almost a taboo word because it strays from the regular academic system. College acceptance boards aren't a huge fan of homeschoolers especially without stellar grades.

    2) From what I've heard I didn't miss much in high school except for prom but I did other stuff anyway. Unfortunately I don't have too many childhood friends and everyone I know was from college. I don't really care but that might be a downside for you.

    3) If you're scared right now, I think the worst thing you can do is to hermitize yourself. You need to confront your fears or you will begin setting a trend for later in life. I realize you're scared for your safety but just keep in mind that these are high school kids (I'm assuming you're a girl because a girl wanted to fight you) the most they can do to you is give you a black eye not take your life away. Mace might be a viable option as well. Bear mace if you're facing 5 girls :)

On the plus side though, you will most likely do better in your coursework without distractions.

  4. High school is nothing to be scared of. I had a great experience--I think it is sort of a rite of passage...the best advice i can give someone going into high school is to get involved with sports, activities, etc. That is the best way to meet people who share your interests.

  5. Ok, I'll let you in on a secret. Freshman year in Highschool isn't as bad as everyone chalks it up to be! Most Highschools have seniors that tease you a bit but it wears off after about the first month or so! Also Highschool is the most fun I've ever had in my life. Even though the classes can get kind of boring you still make awesome friends and memories. Just be friendly and most of the freshmen will become your friends! Do not homeschool. Everyone that I have met who has gotten homeschooled starts to forget how to be social and finds it really hard to make any friends. Highschool is awesome and the people you meet are just as good. There are always going to be those people who just think they are way better than you and won't be your friend, but 99% of the time you'll find people who will make great friends. This is all from my experience going to a normal high school. If you're going to a Ghetto high school or something then I don't really know what will happen. You'll be nervous at first but High School is awesome with the right people!

  6. You can talk to the people that try to pick on you tell them how you feel tell them to try to feel like you and ask them how you think you feel I did that and now i am POPULAR

  7. If you really want to - you should. I won't lie and say that highschool is all cupcakes and sprinkles..it's not. I'm going into my sophmore year and I'm looking into homeschooling myself. But, you should try highschool for a month or two and decide if you are really willing to go into homeschooling.

  8. Homeschooling all the way man....I know plenty of GREAT homeschooled kids and they are just as socialized except smarter!lol and high school is getting worse as the years go by trust me!Hope this helps
