  1. Yeah im scared too lol .My bro sleeps upstairs but i keep wanting to run away into light lol .i dont think there are anyone else living in your house .I hear stuff too .sometimes i think i hear a girl screaming but its just the bathroom door squeak lol. i always close my curtains like really tight so i cant see outside.i sleep with air conditioner so its kinda loud .sometimes you just gotta lie still and ventually fall to sleep.Yeah i watched the grudge lol and im scared alot when i think about it but youll get over it .Turn on your lights .i turn on most of the lights in my house so i can see whats around me .Theres always a logical explenation for those sort of stuff .like the pple talking are probably like .........................the wind or something o.0 lol but its not people .my neighbours dog barks at night too alot and i tihink its  som1 co mni to my house but then its probably just annoyed or something after a leaf or bat .Or like the other person said ..if its possible sleep with ur dog on ur bed .ull fell much safer although i dont have a dog .i hope u get over it soon .good luck ^^ :D

  2. I still do that too. I get soo scared. I crawl up in a ball wit the sheets covering me tightly , idk, it just make me feel safe. or i sleep with my dog, its like he's protecting me. Try also closing all doors, windows, putting the shades down, and closing your closets, drawers etc.  and no matter how weird it soudns dont leave clothes on chairs and whatnot bc at night it'll look just like another person and it'll freak you out even more. thats just some of the things that i do. HOPE IT HELPS!! =]

  3. I understand. I'm like that too with my basement. Whenever I turn the light off and it's pitch black to the point I can't see my own hand it freaks me out a little. I really doubt there are other people living in your house that are not your family members. Do you watch scary movies? That  might be a problem. And I guess it also depends on where you live too. If you tend to watch the news and you hear of people being murdered in their own homes in the daytime, you may subconciously wonder if that could happen to you even at night. It bothers you to be by yourself and in the dark you feel secluded. That is why you don't mind it in your room since it YOUR room and it is the only place you want to be alone in. But in other places,

where you are used to being there with a family member, scares you when you are there alone in the dark. And a big house just makes it worse. There is more space, meaning that when it gets dark it makes your seem foreboding, like something will just leap out at you if you take a wrong step. You might even have a vivid imagination so you make the darkness seem worse than it really is. Just calm down, keep some lights on as you go through your house. I't not like you have to go through the place during the night and not turn on any lights. Make a habit out of it and you should be able to deal with it eventually.

  4. I had the same fear. Its easy to overcome to. Get your dog to sleep with you on your bed. I feel secure when my dogs there. Close your blinds! If you have a fan in your room, turn it on and it should make a whirling sound and should sound out anything else! Don't take the room unless you really need to and your squished to the point your feet are hanging out the end of your bed!

  5. Don't feel bad about fearing the dark! I'm 17 and the dark completely has me petrified sometimes. Some people are afraid of tin foil or cotten balls, for you and me its the dark. So be glad you don't fear cotton balls, lol. Those poor people. . .

Anyway. . . I can get that way sometimes, too. Hearing things in the dark. It's most likely just your fear that's fabricating the conversations you're hearing. I know I imagine tons of things. It's most likely you're imagining the voices, but sometimes maybe your parents or siblings, if you have anything, woke up and started talking. You should ask them about it sometime. They might just talk in their sleep, too. One of my friend's friends have fully audible conversations with herself while she sleeps.

I think you should take the other room. It'll help take you out of your comfort zone. I, too, am perfectly fine in my own room. I share it with my sister and I get along just fine, but sometimes when she's a at a friend's house, I'll get a little nervous and have to plug in a night light. Lame, seeing as I'm 17, but when you're afraid of something, you're afraid! If you move into that room, though, you'll slowly start to see that it isn't really that bad. Start out in that room with some sort of light source so you can get used to it in the dark. After a while, you'll be comfortable in it and it'll get just like your old room. You could also see it as a way to get over your fear.

As to getting over the fear, sometimes you can't. I've been trying for like 13 years. It comes on and off, but it's always there. The best you can do is to not let that fear rule you. Also, if you can work up the courage, when you hear these people talking in your house when everyone is supposed to be in bed, you can go and investigate. Have a flashlight ready if it helps you at all, but the best way to get over that fear of people being in your house in to go and see what's making the conversations happen.

Also, if you can think of any reason why you're afraid of the dark, where the fear originated, do some research on it, if you can. See if there really is a reason to fear it. It might not work, but at least you're trying something, right? Like me, I don't really have a reason to fear it except for the whole I can't see and something could be there. . . I am a firm believer in ghosts. I need to believe there is something after death, because that, too, is something that I fear. It doesn't really help me to know that there are people out there who can prove the exsistant of ghosts for my fear of the dark, but for my fear of death it's a little lessened knowing that there just very well be more after this life.

And remember, a lot of people are afraid of the dark. You don't have to worry about it being a lame fear. There are tons of even more lame fears. Once you start getting nervous around exeedingly long words, I'd try to get some help. ;)

  6. I have fear too.
