Scared squirrel on my wall?

i was woken this morning by a squirrel screaming it's head off soo loudly. i have a rose climber/trellis beside my bedroom window (upstairs) it's stayed in the same position for ages now and i'm wondering whether it's stuck! it's facing downwards as if it was going to run down the wall but is right at the top near the roof. my cat was around the front so i got her in incase it was scared of her and put some food out to tempt it down but it still hasn't moved. not sure what to do! is it best to leave it or call someone like rspca?

  1. i think you should watch it for a while  youve done the right thing up to now, so just watch it and see what it does. if it is in distress you can contact me and i can sort out a rescue depending on where you are in the country

  2. If you really want it down, grab a broom and shush it down..  It's probably to young and scared to death to do it all on it's own.  You can also grab a LARGE towel and remove it, if it hasn't come down by now.

I had bats fall out of my attic in a really hot day and cooled them off with a heavy wet towel while caling Animal Control.

They were cute, but I've had bats and coons before.  Just didn't want the dogs to get to them before I did.

  3. Leave it for now, as squirrels are skittish and would not cooperate with a rescue attempt.

They have huge teeth and powerful jaws and would deliver a nasty bite, quite capable of severing a finger. Their claws are equally as nasty.

If it doesn't dislodge itself, I'd be tempted to call the RSPCA, as they have the proper equipment and safety gear.

    Poor thing!!

  4. Leave it.

As long as it's not injured, it doesn't need rescuing and just needs to work out to get down itself, or it'll become too dependent on people 'rescuing' it everytime it climbs something and will suffer in the wild.

  5. Definitely leave well alone - he'll be gone eventually.

  6. I'm not sure if squirrels get rabies or not.

I think it's not a bad idea to stay clear of wild animals acting strangely, in general.
