Scared to drive?

okay, so about 2 months ago my mom was driving on the high way [i was sitting in the front] and she ran over some broken glass and the tire popped. the car basically swirved off to the right hand side into the guardrail and we were like ontop of of it still going.

its not that bad, but after that crash, everytime im in the car with her i jump alot when cars go by us or when she drives pretty fast.

and my birthday just recently passed, and im thinking about geting my license, but im so scared now. like really scared. i keep having the crash replay in my head over and over in slow motion.

im terrified to get behind that wheel.

  1. Hi

This is all your mind set and nothing else. You are not allowing your mind to change. REMEMBER your mind controls your entier body.

According to me you need to do a lot of meditation, close your eyes and start counting number backwards.

This will help you a bit in controlling your mind.

    Take care

  2. Don't you have anywhere you want to go?  That usually motivates people to get in a car.

Alternate response:  That's ok.  From your avatar, you appear to be female.  You shouldn't be driving anyway.

  3. Please take the time to get your confidence back.  This can be done with short drives, quick trips.  Don't push yourself.

Last thing you want to do is panic or freeze up behind the wheel and put yourself and others at risk.

  4. its scary when we are not in control. just remember when you are behind the wheel of the car you have more control than a passenger. stay alert follow the rules use good judgement and you will do just fine.

  5. The tire blowing was a rare happening, it is good that your Mom was able to control the car and everyone is OK.

Accidents happen all the time this is what defensive driving is all about. be on your toes, as I ask myself (when I'm bored) what would I do if... Then if it ever does happen I am prepared with a plan.

Get over the crash, they happen. take a breath and move on.

  6. Well, girl.................get back on that horse that threw you and ride it!

Taking some driving lessons from a Professional Instructor should put you more at ease because you will learn what you should be doing behind the wheel, what hazards to look for, and how to prevent loss of control of your vehicle.

Take it on, one step at a time, and you will be just fine.

If you don't try, you will regret it and your fear will just grow within your imagination.

    Good luck girl!

  7. Just remember that the third worst thing you can be behind the wheel (after drunk or asleep) is jumpy.  That'll kill you sure as anything.

    Calm and alert is safe.

  8. try rolling a VW bus going 60. You will get over it. at least ya'll didn't get hurt except for a mental scar that will hang around for a little while
