  1. i had the same problem and would always use pads. i finally learned how to use tampons and wished i had learned sooner! it really does make life easier. the best thing to do is start with a slim fit tampon and RELAX. i know that sounds super difficult but really, freaking out and tensing up will only make it worse. a tampon can't go anywhere besides where it should be and it's not going to kill you or cause cancer. anyway, trial and error honey - you'll get it! and if not, stick with pads a while longer until you feel more comfortable. or, if you're really close with a girl friend or your mom, ask them for some help and advice. that helped me. good luck!

  2. Using tampons for the first time is definately hard. I had trouble inserting them cos it was a little painful but trust me once you get used to it, its better than pads. Less messy. The first few times you put it in and out it might hurt a little but just start with mini tampons and you'll be fine after a while. To insert, just put you finger at the end of the tampon where the string is and push in, keep pushing until its pretty far in. Some people find that theyu can only push it to a certain point but it still might be uncomfortable but you just slightly change direction in the pushing and just try to relax so your muscles arent all tense. Once you get it up far enough it will be completely comfortable and you wont feel it :)

  3. First things first: Tampons do not give you cancer. And if they do, then if things as harmless as tampons are causing cancer, we're already dead. That would be.. stay away from lamps, OH, and computer screens!

But really, the only bad thing about tampons, and in rare and unusual cases, is when people let them stay in for a really long time (like a month) and end up getting things like Toxic Shock Syndrome... which is potentially deadly, but trust me.. you're NOT going to forget it in there! TSS only happens to, like, crazy people who don't change their tampons like they should.

Switching to tampons is a scary thing, no doubt. I only use them when I have to... it is pretty uncomfortable at the beginning for a while.

The funny thing about it is, you don't put the tampon in straight up, you have to do it at an angle. It helps to squat over the toilet, also. You just need to spend time getting a feel for it and you'll eventually get the hang of it.

    Good luck!

  4. lol girl there is no pain, you dont even feel it.  dont worry..  if its a lil dry when you try to put it in just use some lubricant like KY or even petrolium jelly, until you adjust, but yeah i use playtex kind with the smooth plastic applicators, you dont feel anything and it wont bother you all day.

dont be afraid!  once you switch you will never go back to pads!

oh and ignore blackrose, she's exaggerating. ANYTHING can pretty much cause you cancer, being in the SUN can give you cancer, your family can give you cancer, eating over fried foods can give you cancer, talking too much on your cell can give you cancer, its just overhype about rare occurrances, youll be just fine, ive been usin them for years

  5. shove iit up there

    it'll stay(:

  6. Hey Sweetie.. I was 13 when I started using them. (Was a virgin).. I just used "regular" and the insert in the box when you buy them will have instructions!! :)

  7. Well... The tampon box usually comes with instructions on how to insert the tampon safely and comfortably.  I would recommend using plastic for the first time (size regular).  They usually have rounded tip and the plastic makes them slide easier.  Stay away from cardboard.  Playtex actually has "Gentle Glides" which are ideal for teens/first time users.  They are really good.  There are also some called "Slim fits" (I think by Playtex).  I do believe Tampax Pearls are also pretty small and ideal for first timers also.http://www.beinggirl.com is a really good website that gives advice to teens about these issues and products.  They even send free samples if you register with them.  Hope this helps.

  8. Alright kiddo.  I didn't start using tampons until I was 20 because I had discomfort and problems inserting them.  First off you should start with a slim or regular absorbency. I would suggest Tampax Pearl or something else with a plastic applicator, avoid card board for your first couple of times.  Secondly, dab a little bit of vaseline on the applicator, so it will smoothly go in.  Everyone says this, but it's important to relax!  Sit back a little bit with your legs spread and insert the tampon at an upwards angle.  Make sure you have it in all the way before removing the plastic applicator.  You won't lose the tampon or any of that other nonsense.  It's ok to be scared  and nervous, but trust me, I wish I would have done it sooner.  Good Luck and remember to relax!

  9. don`t use tampons they cause cancer and other diseases ! i don`t know what is wrong with you young girls ! jeez.... search info on this because i can see that your mother is not helping you at all...

  10. There is not pain. Just try . You'll get it. Good Luck!!!!
