Scarlet Rocks to tackle Efistorm in the Skybet.Com Claiming Stakes at Windsor
The Class 5 Skybet.Com Claiming Stakes will be staged at Windsor over six furlongs on Monday, 21st May. Taking part in the race is a line-up of nine runners who will contest for the £2,264 prize money set for the winner of the race.
Not every candidate has raced there. Scarlet Rocks, Chineur’s four-year-old bay filly out of mare, Alexander Duchess, raced and won there during the previous season once out of the five times that she raced at Windsor.
Scarlet Rocks won the Windsor Vehicle Leasing Claiming Stakes on 17th October at Windsor over six furlongs.
She led the runner up of the race, Aye Aye Digby, by 2 ¾ lengths while riding with Andrea Atzeni. The 100/30 favourite of the race, Retainer, settled third on the track of thirteen.
This was her last attempt there as she had ended third, scored second, finished fifth and then ranked fourth at Windsor.
She strode into her 2012 campaign by taking part in the Follow Totepool On Facebook And Twitter Handicap on 5th April at Folkestone over five furlongs. The race was won by Haadeeth as Clear Praise settled second.
Scarlet Rocks finished fifth with Cathy Gannon onboard while the 11/4 favourite of the race, Drawnfromthepast, was the last one to rest the race on the field of seven.
She is in for the second outing of the season today.
She will need to look out for Efistorm, Efisio’s eleven-year-old bay gelding out of mare, Abundance, who has been active twelve times during the new season and has won twice.
He won the Play Rainbow Riches At Bluesq.Com Handicap at Lingfield over seven furlongs on 17th February. It was a very narrow victory for Efistorm who led the reeling in runner up, Do More Business, by mere head’s difference.
The 7/2 favourite of the race, Cristaliyev, ended third on the field of eight.
His most recent win was in the Racing UK Handicap at Kempton over six furlongs on 15th May. Paired up with Tom Queally for the race, Efistorm led the track by ¾ of a length.
The 5/1 favourite of the race, Spin Again, ended third.
With a fresh victory under belt, there is hardly a doubt that he will try again.
