Scarlets lose Josh Turnbull until the start of 2012 due to shoulder Injury – Rugby News
Llanelli based Welsh professional Rugby Union club, Scarlets, were delivered a major blow after their Wales international flanker, Josh Turnbull, was ruled out of playing until the start of
2012.  Officials at the club have confirmed the sidelining of their international back row forwards player due to injury in a statement released on their website on Wednesday, September 28.
Turnbull sustained a hit to his shoulder in Scarlets encounter against the Connacht Rugby.  Scarlets head coach, Nigel Davies, confirmed that the recent injury has aggravated Turnbull’s existing
shoulder problems, which now has left him with no other option but to undergo surgery.
Davies has confirmed that the operation and subsequent rehabilitation will take approximately three months to heal. He said, “It (the shoulder problem) has progressively got worse and got to
a stage where he needs an operation and will be out for three months.”
Davies added they have unanimously decided against staging Turnbull’s pre-mature return to the game. He further added the move contains a possible risk of dislocating his shoulder. He added,
“We can't afford that to happen because he would be out for a longer period. We are trying to nip it in the bud and the medical advice is we have no other option.”
The 23-year-old Welsh international flanker Turnbull was part of  Wales extended training squad for their 2011 Rugby World Cup campaign.
The Haverfordwest born Turnbull made his international debut for the Wales earlier this year in February, during the RBS Six Nations tournament. He so far has played three international games
for the national side.
Davies has termed his absence as big blow for the Scarlets domestic and European campaign.  Turnbull will miss the Scarlets' Heineken Cup encounter against Castres Olympique, Northampton Saints,
and Munster.
In addition to his, Scarlets will be happy with the news of the return of their star international hooker Mathew Rees. Rees missed out of the 2011 World Cup tournament after sustaining a neck
injury. He is expected to return to the action at the end of October.
