Scart cables - are they all the same or are there good ones and bad ones?

Should I shop around for Scart leads or will any one do? Its for a TV to VCR connection.

  1. Scart cables are definitely not all the same. Some are made with better quality materials like gold-plated connectors and Oxygen Free wire.

    If you just need something basic for a VHS player, then a basic Scart is fine. But if you have a newer TV or just want better picture/sound quality for DVDs then it's definitely worth shopping around.

    Scarts are an "all-in-one" cable meaning they handle all the picture and audio down a single connection. Inside the cable itself are many individual wires carrying the signals, but they're all bunched up together. If they have poor shielding, some signal will bleed into another wire affecting the signal quality. More expensive cables have better shielding to keep a more "pure" signal getting to your TV, so you get better picture and sound quality.
