Question:

Scary worm problem, maybe cat?

I was in the process of taking my clean laundry off my clothes horse and noticed a cluster of tiny black spots on a white dress. Upon closer inspection some of the dots appeared to be wiggling.

Now, I have no freaking idea what they are. 1 solution is they came from the garden as the washing had been on the line a few days before but had to be rewashed as it rained. The other is they may have came from the cats as they enjoy to sit among the clean washing like it's their own fort. I always look at the cats poos (I'm not a freak, I just recently got a new kitten and though I was told she was wormed i always check) and I've never noticed any worms on the poos or the cats bots (which I also closely inspected upon finding the wormy things).

Now, the worms were quite dark, like a brown colour and there seemed to be some cream eggs. They were laid in a small circle formation.

Any help anyone could offer would be great. I'm planning on worming the cats again as soon as possible and always keep their tray disinfected.

  1. Sounds like fleas instead of worms. The eggs are also a cream color, they are tiny. If you see worms they are usually white and short(tapes) or long. If you don't have flea meds on your cat you might want to consider getting some. I use Advantage on mine and it works. You might also want to treat your yard, since you can also bring in fleas from outside.

Sorry, I don't know what they could be. I don't think it's from the cats though. Maybe it's like moth larvae or something.

  2. parasitic worms are white.  this sounds more like larvae from outside.   I'm sure your kitty is fine.

  3. since they were on your clothes, and you were in a garden, I doubt its from the cats. I would think more along the lines of Moths... moth eggs and larve. I wouldnt worry about getting worms from the cats. Unless you eating the poo or l*****g your hands after touching it or there butts you are not likely to get worms from the cats. Some times if you put them in a plastic bag with a drop of water and keep it in the dark or freeze them, you can take them to a vet, or a pest control person and see if they can identify them. Or if you have a university near by that specializes in Botany or biological things. Take it there They always love a challenge.
