The Werder Bremen boss has expressed his delight on his side’s displays in pre-season and is looking forward to a strong start to the Bundesliga.

The tactician feels that the team is on a good path and is hopeful that the side continues with the same form when the season starts later this month.
“We found things everywhere to improve upon. I was happy that not only did the results go our way in this tournament but also our performance - even though we weren't talking about the world club cup. Until now we have worked superbly
and played well together as a team. We are on a good path. The mood is unbelievably positive,” Schaaf was quoted as saying in an interview.

“That was a very, very good and important test for us. It will naturally give us confidence. Altogether I would rather have had it be the first match day of the season already,” the defender concluded.
Werder Bremen will kick start the proceedings to the league campaign against defending champions Borussia Dortmund on Friday, August 24. The opening game of the new season will be played at the Signal Iduna Park.
