Schalke 04 are underdogs against Manchester United, claims Ralf Rangnick; UEFA Champions League news
German Bundesliga team Schalke 04 thrashed the reigning European champions, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Inter-c39567 Milan, 7-3 on aggregate to progress to the semi-finals of the UEFA Champions League, where they will meet English Premier League leaders Manchester United.
In the two legged quarter-final tie, Schalke stunned the football world when they recorded an emphatic 5-2 victory against Inter at San Siro. Last night Schalke beat Inter 2-1 at home to achieve a historic semi-final berth for the German side.
Schalke manager, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Ralf-c30492 Rangnick, is delighted with his side’s triumph over Inter and stated that his side are clear underdogs against the mighty Red Devils.
He said, “The guys have every reason to be proud with what they've achieved. We're the clear underdogs for the tie against Manchester United."
Rangnick added that his team worked very hard against the Nerazzurri and restricted Inter to a few goal scoring chances.
He added, “The team has put in two great performances to eliminate Inter. You know that you've put in a good performance when you allow the Champions League holders only two serious chances (Second leg). Every player was ready to run their socks off for the other players. That was the key to our success. It really was an extraordinary night for us."

In the second half, Benedikt Howedes scored the second for Schalke to make it 2-1 and fix a semi-final date with Manchester United.
Many pundits are tipping the Red Devils to progress against the challenge of Schalke in the semi-final. However, Sir Alex Ferguson’s men will have to take Schalke seriously as the Germans have shown that they have the ability to upset any team.
Schalke’s next fixture in the German Bundesliga is an away match against Werder Bremen and they will host the Red devils for the first leg of the Champions League semi-final on 26th April, 2011.
