Olympique Lyonnais have decided to briefly part with their prized winger, Michel Bastos for a duration of six-months as they have loaned him out to German Bundesliga outfit, Schalke 04. The decision to loan out Bastos was made following the Rhone giants’
ongoing financial crisis, which seem to have got the best of Les Gones. The Brazilian is not the first player to have sold or loaned out to another club, as several other high profile players have also left Stade Gerland because of the very same crisis.
Schalke have been reportedly interested in the player since the start of the January transfer window. The club sought to sign the talented Brazilian as a short-term replacement to German international, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Lewis-Holtby-c22175, who has departed from English Premier
League outfit, Tottenham Hotspur this January. The German giants have signed the winger on a loan deal till the end of the season, with the option on buying him on a permanent basis.
FC Schalke 04’s sporting director, Horst Heldt stated in a press release over the club’s website:
“We are very happy that http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Michel-Bastos-c25461 has signed for us.”
Heldt is counting on Bastos’ huge international and UEFA Champions League experience, hoping that the Brazilian would bring real quality to the German side. The director is hoping to reinforce the side as they take on Turkish giants, Galatasaray SK in the
Champions League. Galatasaray have been bolstering their squad by signing http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Wesley-Sneijder-c36799, as the hype escalates for the fixture between the two sides.
The sporting director added as he tried to explain why the club signed the player:
"He is an experienced international player who has special abilities and can help us immediately. He is also eligible to play in the Champions League."
Michel Bastos has featured in 12 games in Ligue 1 for Les Gones this season, as well as scoring five goals for the French club.
