Schalke 04 vs http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Valencia-CF-c40864: Champions League Full Time Report (Part 2)
As soon as the second-half restarted Schalke and Valencia seemed to want to break at each other right away.
Just three minutes into the game the pressure seemed to be getting to the Schalke defence as Escudero went on to receive a yellow for a deliberate tug on the jersey of a Valencia player.
However, it seemed like Schalke had a plan for the second half and it seemed to connect in just the 52nd minute as the home-side scored their second goal of the game. Kluge sent in a searching cross, which Guaita managed to tap out of danger.
However, the ball ended up in the feet of Farfan and his shot was then blocked by Valencia keeper once again. Unfortunately for Valencia, the ball once again fell to a Schalke player, this time with Gavranovic receiving the ball, and the striker went on
to connect with a first time shot which deflected off both ends of the crossbars before nestling in the goal.
Valencia seemed to spur on after conceding the second goal in the game and in the 57th minute Aduriz had a golden opportunity to get his side level once again. Mathieu curled in a cross, which took a deflection on its way over to Aduriz. However,
once the striker did get onto the ball, he managed to on to shoot the ball into the side of the net and as a result a golden opportunity went begging for Valencia.
In the 58th minute, Neuer displayed just why he is voted to be one of the best keepers in the world at the moment. The German international went on to deny Aduriz another opportunity to score by tipping over a stinging effort from the striker.
He then managed to win a one-on-one with Joaquin Sanchez and as a result of the keeper’s heroics his side were still in the lead in the contest.
Valencia kept their high-end pressure on the home-side as they kept testing their resilient defence time and time again. In the 72nd minute Soldado went on to play a breath-takingly beautiful pass which just needed a touch to put it into the back
of the net. However, the second half sub Tino http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Costa-c9458, managed to time his slide towards the ball completely wrong and failed to properly connect with the ball.
In the 81st minute, there was a lapse in the Valencia defence which allowed Gavranovic to run at the visitors goal. The striker then unleashed a rasping drive which connected with the outside of the post.
In the last minute of stoppage time, Farfan - the man of the hour - got the space to run the Valencia half. The forward sprinted to the Schalke area and controlled an over the top pass. Farfan then went on to chip Guaita and as a result he put the final
nail in the Valencia coffin, which saw the Spaniards get knocked out of the Champions League.
