Schalke 04 winger Jefferson Farfan eyeing a summer Serie A move
Schalke 04 star winger, Jefferson Farfan, is eyeing a summer move to Italian Serie A. The former http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/PSV-c40281 Eindhoven star has made it clear that he would be leaving Die Knappen at the end of the season and wants to make the next step in his career by signing with a top league outfit.
The Peruvian international started his professional career with his native club, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Alianza-Lima-c38316, in 2001/02 season. His performances at the club attracted interest from Eredivisie powerhouse, PSV Eindhoven, and the club management added the prolific winger to their ranks in the 2004/05 season. He scored 57 goals in 119 appearances for the Boeren before joining Bundesliga outfit in the summer of 2008.
Farfan said, “I have made my decision. I will leave Schalke in June. I want to move to Italy to make the next step in my career.”
The 26-year-old winger was close to joining La Liga outfit, Atletico Madrid, in the winter transfer market. However, Die Knappen management refused to let go off their prized asset.
Farfan said, “I wanted to leave in January and was close to signing for Atletico Madrid. However, the club refused to let go of me and the move fell through.”
Reports suggest that the struggling Serie A giants, Juventus FC, are interested in taking the Peruvian international’s signature at the end of the season. However, he also suggested that it is too early to talk about his future destination as they player is at the top level at Veltins-Arena.
Raul Gonzalez Farfan said, “It is premature to talk about his future transfer. Moreover, Schalke are still fighting in the UEFA Champions League and they are striving to improve their position in Bundesliga. We will see what will happen in June, but I cannot dismiss the fact that many clubs prefer him.”
The Peruvian international has made a wealthy contribution in achieving a quarter-finals spot for Die Knappen. Only time will tell whether the Miners management let go off their prized asset in the summer transfer market.
