Schalke Chairman Clemens Tonnies has stated that he is confident that striker http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Raul-c30652 will stay at the club. He insisted that the player has immense experience and quality and has been a huge asset for the club since he arrived last
summer from Real Madrid.
Raul’s future has been under speculation since this summer’s transfer window when the likes of Blackburn http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Rovers-c40385 and Paris Saint-Germain showed interest but the striker opted to stay. His current contract with the club expires at
the end of the season and Die Knappen are considering to offer him a one-year extension.
Tonnies insisted that the former Real Madrid forward has loads of experience and he gives his best in the every game he plays. He admitted that the player is a very important part of the club and remained confident that he will
remain with Schalke for another year after his contract expires at the end of the campaign.
“Such an experienced player is very important for our young team and he proves that in every game. Raul is incredibly endearing. I have made it absolutely clear to him that he belongs with Schalke,” he was quoted as saying in an
interview.
The chief claimed that Raul is already a fan favourite because of the amount of hard work he does on the pitch. He further added that the Spaniard’s impact at the club has been massive and his brilliance led the club to the semi-finals
of the UEFA Champions League last year and there is no point not to offer him a stay.
“We are proud of every minute that Raul plays in a Schalke shirt. When somebody plays good football, gets involved and identifies himself with the club, then there is nothing to say you should not continue with him,” he concluded.
