Schalke coach Felix Magath believes his side can beat Bayern Munich in the DFB Pokal
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/FC-Schalke-04-c39204 coach Felix Magath believes his side can beat Bayern Munich at the Allianz Arena on Wednesday in the semi-final of the German Cup. The manager said that he was confident that Schalke will make it to the final where they would face second division
side MSV Duisburg.
The Gelsenkirchen side has been unable to capitalize on the brilliant second placed finish last season in the Bundesliga and have been struggling big time this season. They are currently tenth on the League rankings and are a staggering 28 points behind
leaders Borussia Dortmund.
The manager said that he is well aware of the form and quality of the Munich side but believes his side still have a chance. He added that Bayern and Schalke are the two biggest teams in http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Germany-c2904 and are the only ones who remain in all the three competitions.
Magath said that a win is crucial for them as winning the German cup is the only chance they could qualify for Europe next season. The former Bayern Munich manager believes that if his side reach the final, they would have a big chance as they would compete
with the second division side MSV Duisburg on a neutral venue.
"It's a chance for us to lift a trophy this season because the winners will meet a second-division side in the final and on neutral ground in http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Berlin-c7536, have to be considered favourites. Winning the DFB Cup would mean we would qualify for Europe next season,"
said Felix Magath in an interview.
The German named Bayern as the favorites and heaped praise on the attacking ability of his opponents. He labelled http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Arjen-Robben-c6521 and Franck Ribery amongst the best wingers in the world. Magath also praised Mario Gomez and Thomas Muller as superb attacking
talents for the Munich giants.
The manager said that containing the Bayern attack would be very important. Magath insisted that the Bavarians were not strong enough defensively and Schalke will have to take advantage of this weakness.
"We'll have to control these players as best we can but you can never completely neutralise them. But Bayern don't have quite so much quality at the back as they do in attack, so we'll be looking to create chances going forward rather than packing the defence,"
concluded the German.
