Schalke coach Rangnick reveals recipe for Inter Milan defeat- UEFA Champions League news
German team, Schalke’s coach, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Ralf-c30492 Rangnick, has stated that AC Milan’s recent 3-0 victory over Inter Milan in the Italian Serie A (Italian League) has taught his side how to defeat the Nerazzurri.
Schalke were up against the reigning European Champions Inter Milan in the quarter-final of the ongoing UEFA Champions League season, the first of the two legged quarter-final was played at Inter’s home ground San Siro on 5th April 2011.
The German side recorded an emphatic 5-2 victory to upset their Italian opposition and Schalke coach Rangnick reveals that while watching the Milan derby, he found the key to unlock Inter’s defence.
He said, “We observed them in the derby against Milan and we could see there that whoever defends in numbers against http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Inter-c39567 has got to be good on the counter-attack. Therefore, we intentionally played attacking football. We wanted to find the holes in their defence”.
Scoring five goals against Inter Milan is seen as a remarkable result for Schalke. The German side played sensational attacking football and could have scored more goals as they were denied twice by the crossbar.
Schalke striker, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Edu-c12016 was the ‘star of the show’ against Inter. The Brazilian created constant problems for the Italian team and ended up with two goals to his name.
Rangnick stated he is overwhelmed by the result, "It could have ended 5-10 or 4-8. It was a fantastic match and, for us, a marvellous evening. For me personally, it was the best game ever. If anybody had told us before the game that we would have beaten Inter by three goals, I would have said that they were crazy”.
The victory is an important step in Schalke’s route to the semi-final, however, coach Rangnick urges his side to remain focused as the second leg of the quarter-final still remains.
He said, “We are not thinking of the semi-finals at all yet. We have put ourselves into a good position, but the final step has yet to be taken”.
