Schalke sporting director, Horst Heldt, has confirmed that his club is not interested in Wiese’s acquisition during the summer transfer window.
Horst Heldt has confirmed that the Gelsenkirchen outfit is not considering Tim Wiese’s acquisition by the end of this campaign. He was talking in the wake of claims linking the goalkeeper with a move to the Veltins-Arena after
the shot stopper’s contract expires with Werder Bremen at the end of this term.
The sporting director clarified that the http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Royal-95-c40387 Blues are pleased with their current lot of keepers and are in no mood to bring in any new face. He stated that these statements are at times disturbing for both the players and the
officials and therefore the media must not speculate things until there are confirmed reports.
While talking to Goal.com, the Sporting Director further added: "It annoys me that his name is brought up. It's wrong and does not make sense. We have not even said that we are looking for a new goalkeeper. I think it's disrespectful
to the other lads.”
Heldt mentioned that the current shot stopper, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Ralf-c30492 Fahrmann, has done extremely well between the sticks which is why Schalke are in the top three. He specified that the Gelsenkirchen outfit plan to continue with their current
first choice at least for another season. He hailed Fahrmann for filling http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Manuel-Neuer-c23424’s boots efficiently after the former keeper had left for Bayern Munich last year.
“I think it's great what they have done, that you no longer think about http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Manuel-c23383 Neuer [who left Schalke for Bayern Munich last summer]. I'd like to read someday that they played well - and nothing about Wiese, [Kevin] Trapp or [Ron-Robert]
Zieler," Heldt concluded.
Wiese will run out of contract with the River Islanders at the end of this campaign after which he will be available on a free transfer. The 30-year-old has represented Bremen on 187 occasions until now and earned his http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Germany-c2904 debut
in 2006. He has six international caps under his belt thus far.
The shot stopper has made 21 league appearances for the Weserstadion outfit this season and will next be up against Stuttgart on Friday, April 13, after standing in a 2-2 draw at home to Borussia Monchengladbach on Tuesday, April
10.
