The http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Royal-95-c40387 Blues are determined to hold on to their strike duo as they look to book a place in next season’s UEFA Champions League.
Schalke could lose http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Raul-c30652 Gonzalez by the end of this season if he disagrees to sign a proposed contract extension at the club. The striker’s current deal ends at the end of this year and the Royal Blues are determined to keep hold
of him for yet another season. Raul, reportedly, is not impressed with the new deal and demands a two-year extension rather than a one-year contract.
Raul has been impressive since arriving from Real Madrid in 2010 but the Spaniard’s departure will be huge loss for the club. Therefore, the bosses have offered him another season at the Veltins-Arena keeping in mind the club’s
future and the fans’ demands.
The supporters are eager to see the http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Spain-c3011 international continuing to play at the club beyond 2012. Schalke officials responded positively despite being short on sufficient funds. However, Raul has now confirmed that he might not
agree to his new deal unless it is revised according to his liking.
While talking to Sport1, the Schalke CEO, Clemens Tonnies further added: "We have made him a really good offer, and I believe that the lack of progress is not about his salary, but the length of the contract. Now it is up to him
to decide."
On the other hand, the Gelsenkirchen outfit is also poised to offer a new deal to http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Klaas-Jan-Huntelaar-c21175 whose contract expires next season. The Dutchman has been in ominous form this season and is just one goal behind Mario Gomez,
who is the leading goal scorer in the Bundesliga.
Tonnies applauded Huntelaar’s form this term and assured that the club will make a respectable offer for the http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Netherlands-c753 international. He mused that Huntelaar can win titles while playing at Schalke and expects the striker to
stay.
"We will honour his accomplishments with the club and we want to keep him as well. He is now playing at a club where he can win titles," the CEO concluded.
Schalke are currently third in the Bundesliga with 53 points and will next be in action against Hoffenheim at the Rhein-Neckar-Arena on Sunday, April 1.
