Schalke insist http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Klaas-Jan-Huntelaar-c21175 will stay at the club and honour his contract- Bundesliga news
German giants Schalke have insisted that striker Klaas-Jan Huntelaar will be staying at the club despite an offer from Russian side http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/FC-Rubin-Kazan-c39193. The club stated that the player has a contract and he is committed to play for
them in the years to come.
Rubin Kazan reportedly tabled an offer of around 14 million Euros to acquire the player but the German side rejected it. The Tatars are currently struggling in the League as they sit in fifth place with 11 games to go.
The former Russian champions are looking to add the attacking flare in their squad before it is too late and end up in a respectable position on the standings table.
Schalke Sporting Director Horst Heldt confirmed the news and admitted that there has been interest from Rubin Kazan for the Dutchman. He stated that the Russian club had already spoken to the player’s agent before and are looking
for a possible transfer. But he insisted that Schalke have no plans whatsoever to sell the player as the club considers him a vital part of the squad.
“We have been approached by a Russian team. Kazan have shown an interest in signing Klaas-Jan. They have apparently already spoken with his agent as well. However, he has ruled out a transfer as far as I know. Klaas-Jan is staying
at Schalke,” he was quoted as saying in an interview to Bild.com.
Die Knappen manager http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Ralf-c30492 Rangnick also played down rumours of the player’s exit and added that the player has two years left on his contract and will surely honour it. He admitted that the Dutch international has not been in the
best form and has had injury problems but was confident that he will be able to make a mark in this campaign.
“Klaas is under contract with us [until 2013] and there is no reason to think that we want to sell him. It’s like asking me if I want to sell the stadium!” he stated.
Schalke will next face FC Koln at the Veltins-Arena on Saturday in their second Bundesliga fixture.
