Schalke manager Huub Stevens frustrated with home draw against Larnaca- UEL news
Schalke manager Huub Stevens has expressed his frustration on the home draw against AEK Larnaca in the UEFA Europa League. He admitted that it was a disappointing performance as the team allowed the opposition to attack and missed
some great opportunities to score.
Die Knappen drew 0-0 against http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Cyprus-c2881 side AEK Larnaca in the Europa League and never really looked at ease considering they won the reverse fixture 5-0 in Larnaca. The German giants are leading the Group-J table with eight points
from the four games played and will go through to the next round with a good result against Steaua Bucharest in December.
Stevens expressed his disappointment after missing the chance to secure a win against AEK Larnaca at Veltins-Arena. He stated that goalkeeper Lars Unnerstall put in a great experience and was the best of the lot in the fixture.
However, he admitted that Unnerstall’s sensational performance was alarming for his team as they were not as dominating as expected at home.
“This is a disappointing result for us Larnaca have a good team, but we should normally be winning games like this. When your own goalkeeper is the man of the match, then I think that says it all,” he was quoted as saying in an
interview.
The Dutchman insisted that the fans were expecting another win in the match but the side truly lacked consistency and gave the ball too easily. He remained hopeful on an impressive performance this weekend against Hannover at the
AWD-Arena. The opposition is a tough one as they have already defeated Bayern Munich earlier this season.
“It is not that we underestimated them after the 5-0 win because we respect every opponent and all I did was field the freshest players. I just hope we draw the right conclusions out of this game. We must play differently in the
Bundesliga against Hannover,” he concluded.
Schalke has two matches remaining in the group stages as they have to play Steaua Bucharest at home and Maccabi Haifa in http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Israel-c2925. A draw in the next match would surely take the side through to the next round and would mean that
they would win the group.
