Schalke manager Ralf Rangnick believes Manchester United have more at stake in UEFA Champions League
Schalke 04 manager Ralf Rangnick has claimed that Manchester United will be under a lot of pressure to win the UEFA Champions League semi-final tie between the two teams on Tuesday night. Rangnick believes that this will give his side an edge in the contest.
The Red Devils are heading into the decisive period of the season, one which could make or break their entire campaign. United are within touching distance of a record 19th Premier League crown. They are also one of the firm favourites to win
this year’s Champions League trophy. Sir Alex’s men will face German club Schalke in the semi-finals of the tournament in a bid to book their place in the final at Wembley.
The Red Devils are in such good form at the moment, pundits aren’t giving Schalke any chance of making it into the final of Europe’s biggest tournament. Far from being disheartened, club manager Ralf Rangnick believes that this could work in his side’s favour.
Rangnick claims that Schalke have ‘less to lose’ than their opponents, especially since most of the footballing world have all but accepted that it is United who will be making it through to the final.
Speaking on the upcoming encounter, the Schalke boss said, “Of the two teams, we have much less to lose. We may be less experienced, but we are hungry and we have a lot of passion.''
The German side has already proved that they are not to be taken lightly. Schalke thrashed title holders http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Inter-c39567 Milan 7-3 on aggregate in the quarter-finals, but their coach believes that a repeat of that score line is extremely unlikely. Unlike the Italian
giants, United are a much more compact side.
Rangnick added, “We won't score so many goals this time. United is a very organised team. I expect a close game and a result that may give us a chance in the second leg.''
Manchester United and Schalke are set to contest the first leg of the semi-final on 26th April. The match will take place at the Veltins-Arena in Gelsenkirchen, Germany.
