Schalke manager Ralf Rangnick has claimed that former Real Madrid striker Raul will be staying at the club after reports suggesting that the player has met with officials from Spanish side Malaga. He insisted that the Spaniard
is surely in the club’s plans for the future and expects the player to stay in the German Bundesliga for the next campaign.

Rangnick denied any rumours claiming Raul would leave by stating that the player will stay and help the club regain its place in the league. He insisted that the Spaniard is a very important player and is a vital part of the team.

squad in the season,” he was quoted as saying in an interview.
The former Hoffenheim manager also replied to criticism that he plays Raul out of position. He claimed that Raul is played in an attacking midfield role, the same he played under former manager Felix Magath.
The tactician hailed the striker’s ability to score goals and his role on the pitch and remained confident that he will again prove himself in the upcoming season.
“Raul is playing with me at the same position as with Felix Magath, an attacking midfielder. He has also played in two games against Milan, scored two goals, two prepared. His greatest strength is the deadly pass into the lane
and his eye for goal,” he concluded.
The Real Madrid legend scored 19 goals for Schalke in the last campaign in a total of 51 appearances.
